The above assumes the subway is to be

constructed to accommodate pipes etc. If the rock was

found dense and homogeneous without the danger of

infiltration of water in considerable amount, it might

be possible to pass the water from Kowloon by gravity

directly through the tunnel. The subway would thus

be an aqueduct and the water could flow by gravity to

Victoria Hong Kong side, and could be there lifted by

electrically driven pumps to the reservoir to be

distributed.
